Were Ganpati idols thrown on Sabarmati river front in Ahmedabad ?
A video showing idols kept on the road side is viral, claimed as Ganpati’s idols thrown/left there as an insult to God Ganpati.
Alka Lamba, Delhi MLA, asked a question as why there is no one to take these idols home with hashtag of Ganesh Utsav. She tweeted the video with the following text –
#GaneshChaturthi #GanpatiBappaMorya…
Manoj Sharma, Bureau Chief of News Paper, Dainik Bhaskar also posted the video with text
Zainab Sikander tweeted the same video who immerse Ganpati in natural water bodies and why not use bio-degradable, eco-friendly idols.
“At the risk of being called a jihadi terrorist for simply voicing my opinion on an environmental issue, may I please just ask those who do the Ganpati Visarjan in natural water bodies: WHY can’t you use eco-friendly, biodegradable (non-toxic paint) idols?“

One twitter user, Gautam Bhatt claimed this video as shameful, God thrown on Sabarmati river front

It’s viral on Facebook also
Truth
First of all, looking at the video closely, none of the idol looked like God Ganpati.
This video actually is a month old i.e. much before Ganesh Utsav.
These idols are of Godess Dashama
Municipality of Ahmedabad asked citizens not to immerse the idols in the river but keep at the water front and they will collect them and immerse later with faith.
Commissioner of Ahmedanad Municipality tweeted this video on 11th Aug appreciating this act by citizens to help and keep river Sabarmati clean.
Our cities and rivers will be clean when people become partners in this change. @AmdavadAMC thanks all these citizens for responding to our appeal and helping in having #SwachhSabarmati pic.twitter.com/ApgcCLbEE0

We had been working on this behaviour change for several months
Since early morning today, security had been intensified. Several artificial ponds were also created. #SwachhSabarmati campaign has clearly helped change habits
