No, ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ has not been changed to ‘यतो धर्मस्ततो जय:’ in Supreme Court.

A viral claim along with 2 photos of a document published by Supreme Court of India is doing the rounds on social media. According the different claims Supreme Court has changed its motto from (‘सत्यमेव जयते’) meaning Truth always wins to (‘यतो धर्मस्ततो जय:’) which means where there is religion there is victory.

Truth

The Supreme Court mark has not changed. The motto of the Supreme Court has always been ‘Yato Dharmastato Jai:’.

After checking the old official website of the Supreme court supremecourtofindia.nic.in. and going through the history of the Supreme court on main.sci.gov.in we did not find any substantial evidence that the motto of Supreme Court was ‘ Satyamev Jayate’. We found from web.archive.org that यतो धर्मस्ततो जय: has been the motto under the ashoka chakra symbol since the beginnig which has not been changed.
