An image of a news channel showing that the Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted schools to reopen amidst rising coronavirus cases in the country is being shared across social media platforms.

Claim 1: गृह मंत्रालय ने सभी राज्यों को स्कूल खोलने की परमिशन दी

(Translation: Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted all states to reopen schools.)

Claim 2: गृह मंत्रालय ने सभी राज्यों को स्कूल खोलने की परमिशन दी,सीबीएसई के 10वीं, 12वीं की परीक्षा पूरी कराने की मंजूरी दी,सभी राज्यों के मुख्य सचिवों को भेजी चिट्ठी।

(Translation: Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted all states to reopen schools, CBSE Standard 10 and 12 exams allowed to be completed, letter sent to chief secretaries of every state.)

The same claim was tweeted by India News Uttar Pradesh/Uttarakhand on May 20.

Truth

The official Twitter handle of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs (@PIBHomeAffairs) tweeted and refuted the viral claim made by the TV channel.

 

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy also rubbished the claim, adding that information related to the government should be sought from their official Twitter handles.

 

Thus, the viral claim is false and no schools have been allowed to reopen in any part of the country.
