Claim:  Videos and photos have been going viral on social media showing a black animal that looks from the cat family. The videos and photos that has been going viral states it is a black panther that was spotted at mosque in  Golconda, Hyderabad, India.

Truth

 

The claim is false. The animal in the viral videos and photos is not black panther. It was an Asian Palm Civet that was inside the Noorani Masjid near Fateh Darwaza of Golconda Fort, Hyderabad India. The animal caused great panic among the locals. The civet cat was rescued and is being kept at the Nehru Zoological Park. The fake claim was debunked when Hyderabad City Police put out a tweet from their official twitter handle stating the animal in the viral video and photos was a civet cat and not a panther. Various news publications have also carried the article about the incident.
