Where are the monkeys actually swimming amidst the lock down?

Claim: A video of monkeys swimming in a pool has been extremely viral on various social media platforms. The video is attached with different messages stating it is from different places. Various claims include that the video is from Pakistan, Brazil, India, Kenya and so on. The claim also states it is a scene amidst the Covid-19 lock down. The video shows monkeys enjoying a swim in a pool.

The video has been shared by many with the message attached changing the named of the place. One of the most shared claim with the video states that the incident took place in Marriott Hotel, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Another popular claim states that the incident took place at Hotel Hyatt, India.

The below claim says that the monkeys came down from the Tijuca forest in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The same video has been viral on Twitter as well.

Norbert Almeida (Risk Management Leader – Global Security at Procter & Gamble) tweeted the video stating it is from a pool in Islamabad.

Another claim that was tweeted states the video is from Mumbai, India.

It has also been tweeted that the incident is from a luxury Caribbean hotel which was abandoned due to corona.

Truth 

The video has been shared by many since it is funny. Some people have claims of location of the incident attached to it whereas some have shared it without a location. The truth is that the incident is from Secundarabad, India. Following a reply from reply on a tweet of the video, it was stated that the video is from Hyderabad. AFP found out that the video is from an apartment in  Hyderabad’s Mettuguda, Secunderabad region. Upon checking various apartments, Aparna Oosmans Apartment image on Google Map had various similarities to the apartment and pool in the video. The real estate company that manages the building has also put the video on their Facebook page. The story has also been fact checked by AFP.

Thus the incident didn’t occur in Pakistan, Kenya or Brazil. It happened in India but not in Mumbai or Delhi but in Secunderabad.
