Claim: A photo of Akshay Kumar and a woman has been going viral on social media claiming it is a selfie of Akshay Kumar and his mother.
The photo was shared on Facebook over 650 times and received more than 2.500 likes.
The post was also widely shared on Twitter. Even Bombay Times tweeted it.

Truth
The woman in the photo with Akshay Kumar is not his mother. Upon putting the image through a reverse image search, an article on PinkVilla’s website showed up that it was a selfie of Akshay Kumar with TV actress Pragati Mehra’s mother. Following this lead, the image was found on Pragati Mehra’s official and verified Instagram account where she had mentioned in the caption that she is thankful to Akshay Kumar for being gracious towards her mother and clicking the picture with her mother is a sweet gesture by him.
The claim has also been debunked by various websites like Entertainment Times, News Mobile,etc. The photo of Akshay Kumar and Pragati Mehra’s mother has been used by various websites for articles that highlight Akshay Kumar’s close bond with his mother, his humble and family man nature without captioning the image. This is probably the reason why the photo ended up being circulated with the wrong message.
