Soon after the death of veteran actor, Dilip Kumar on July 7 2021, a video surfaced on the social media claiming to be the actor’s last few minutes in the hospital. The Indian cinema legend breathed his last at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital on Wednesday Dilip Kumar, known to world of cinema as ‘tragedy king,’ was rushed to the hospital on June 30 after complaining of breathlessness. The actor, 98, died of bilateral pleural effusion after being hospitalized twice in a month. His highness, was buried in Mumbai on Wednesday, 7 July with full state honours. Dilip Kumar was laid to rest wrapped in the Indian flag at the Juhu Kabristan, where the film fraternity and thousands of fans bid him an emotional farewell. Kumar is survived by his wife, Saira Banu, a Bollywood actress herself. Tributes have been pouring in on social media for the legendary actor and it is amidst this that a video is viral on social media claiming that it is the actor’s, last. The viral video with a duration of 2-minute-13-second video reads, “Dilip Kumar Last Video Inside Hospital Before He Left Us | Saira Bano Ji Feeding Him Food”.
TRUTH
The claim along with the video has been found out to be false. The viral video dates back to 2013, when the actor was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai after he complained of breathlessness. Several screengrabs from the video were used to reverse search using the InVid tool. This lead to several reports by Indian Express and News 18 from 2013. According to these reports, the video is from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, where he was admitted on September 15, 2013, after complaining of uneasiness. Doctors had later diagnosed him with severe cardiac infection.
On September 22, 2013, the official Twitter handle of Dilip Kumar had shared the same video which is today circulating as the actor’s last minutes. “Thank you for your prayers and love. Resting in the hospital. Video from yesterday,” read the tweet from 2013.

Several YouTube channels had also shared this particular video of Saira Banu feeding Dilip Kumar in the hospital bed bach in 2013. These videos have also stated that it was taken from the Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai.
Thus, it is proven and evident that the video circulating today as the legendary actor’s last few minutes from the hospital is false. The truth being, the video is from 2013, when Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital following uneasiness in his health conditions.
