The viral picture of a boy is not taken during Cyclone Amphan, the picture is 7 years old

A photo of a child taking food while drowned in water around is going viral on social media with people claiming it to be from the recent Cyclone Amphan.

The particular post has over 2500 shares, captioned, “Once in a while you come across such pictures and realise just how privileged you are, we are. Aftermath of cyclone Amphan, Bengal

 

The words, “Aftermath of cyclone Amphan, Bengal.” have been removed by the user, but the archive can be seen for the original post.

There are a lot of scattered posts on Twitter claiming that the picture is from the Cyclone Amphan,

Truth

Upon doing a Google Image Search of the viral image, we found that the image has been floating on the Internet since 2013.
We found the same image on the ‘India Relief and Development Fund’ website, captioned, “kid getting food in water unknown source”. The image is posted on July 12, 2013
The same image was published in a Malayalam article during the 2013 North India Floods, the article was published on June 29, 2013.
and also in a Facebook post, in 2013.
Hence it is established that the photo is seven years old,  and is not taken during the Cyclone Amphan. The viral claims are absolutely false.
