Truth
The viral video is NOT of the Indian army attacking and killing the Pakistan Army. The video is of the ‘Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar’ (BRAS) organization attacking and killing the Pakistani Army. BRAS is a freedom fighting organization in Balochistan.
Upon looking at the video closely, we noticed a logo on the right side of the video which resembles the Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS) logo.
For background and context, BRAS is an alliance of four Baloch armed organizations– Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), Baloch Liberation Army, Baloch Republican Army, and Baloch Republican Guard. All these organizations are jointly fighting for the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan.
According to a paper by The Jamestown Foundation, the BRAS ideology revolves around establishing a separate Baluch state and not allowing outside powers (including both China and Pakistan) to extract resources from Baluchistan’s territory.
According to a news report by NewsIntervention, BRAS fighters killed 12 Pakistani military personnel in a major strike conducted on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Mand in Balochistan. The report includes the visuals of the attack, which is the same as in the viral video.
The BRAS fighters killed 12 Pakistani Military personnel in an attack on April 23, 2020.
In the news report, Baloch Khan, the official spokesperson of BRAS (Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar) gave details of their attack on occupying Pakistani forces. In its statement, “BRAS has officially taken responsibility for the attack carried out on Thursday in the mountainous regions near Chak Aaap and Sheeraz in Mand, Balochistan.”
Some of the more resemblances in the viral video and the real incident,
- The convoy catching fire and military man is dead in both the visuals of the viral video and in the news report.
2. A military person can be seen escaping the convoy, and the details on the car are the same in both the visuals,
The Balochistan Post also reported the news,
and also included the details and the visuals of the attack, same as that of the viral video
An account named, ‘Indian Military Updates’, also posted the video of the attack by the BRAS on the Pakistan Army. They wrote, “On 23 April 2020, Balochistan Freedom Fighters Ambushed The Pakistani Army.
Aur Inko Kashmir Chahiye“.
They posted it on 25th April 2020.
A Twitter account named ‘Current Balochistan’ also tweeted the news, they wrote, “Mand: 12 Pakistani military personnel eliminated in BRAS attack #Kech #Balochistan”
