MS Dhoni’s viral photo wrongly connected to support for Congress
India has begun it’s first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024. In the light of the ongoing voting across the nation, posts regarding the voting practices are trending on several social media platforms. Amongst such posts, a post with MS Dhoni’s picture is getting viral, claiming that it represents the Indian cricket sensation’s support for Congress party.

Truth
On further research, it was found that the photo of MS Dhoni being used in these viral posts is originally from Chennai Super Kings’ official Twitter post dated October 5, 2020. The Print reported it to be an old photo of the player. The photo was posted to celebrated the IPL team’s reaching of 6M follower count on Twitter. The hand gestures that were falsely connected to his political support to Congress were actually denoting the 6 million followers of CSK on the social media platform.
