Viral Video Falsely Claims Nitin Gadkari Did Not Stand and Applaud for PM Modi

On June 7, a parliamentary meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was held in New Dalhi. In this meeting, PM Narendra Modi was chosen to take the role of the alliance leader and the Prime Minister of the nation unanimously by the alliance members.

The leaders in the venue stood and applauded PM Modi on several occasions in the event. Amidst this, a video was posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating that BJP leader and the current Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari did not join the other leaders to stand and cheer for Modi.

This video has gone viral on X with many accounts sharing the video and making the same claims.

Truth

The claims made in the video are misleading as Nitin Gadkari was seen standing and applauding for PM Modi during the meeting. The Quint also found varied clips from the video that showed the leader standing and cheering for Modi.

From the videos uploaded by Sansad TV and BJP’s YouTube channel, several moments from the entire meeting were found which counter the viral video’s claim.

In this clip from Sansad TV at 3:02, the veteran BJP leader can be seen standing and welcoming Modi.

At 4:06 from the same video, Nitin Gadkari was also seen standing as the National President of BJP, J.P. Nadda felicitated Modi.

At 5:01 from the video posted on BJP’s official YouTube channel , it can be seen that Gadkari is applauding along with other leaders for Modi. This clip has been featured in the viral video as well.

Nitin Gadkari delivered a speech at the meeting where he gave his formal approval to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s proposal for Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister candidate. He congratulated Modi and appreciated his efforts for the nation.

As seen at 59:43 in the video by Sansad TV, the leader also stood and applauded for Modi when all the leaders in the meeting unanimously agreed to choose Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India.
