Did the owner of Joy Alukkas pass away in Dubai due to COVID-19?
A post has been circulating on various social media platforms which expresses condolences over the sad demise of the owner of Joy Alukkas, Joy Arakkal. This post was doing the rounds after many prominent newspapers including Manorama Online, Times of India, Deccan Herald and Gulf News published reports of the death of Joy Arakkal. This lead to messages being circulated on WhatsApp that the founder of Joy Alukkas, Joy Arakkal had died due to Coronavirus in Dubai.

Joy Arakkal of Innova Group died, not Jaoy Alukkas who is the owner of ‘Joy Alukkas’
The news has been taken out of context. The articles announces the sad demise of Joy Arrakkal, who is business man from Kerala who was the managing director of UAE based Innova group of companies. He was however declared dead after a sudden heart attack according to reports and not due to Coronavirus. Another important fact to note that the owner and founder of Joy Alukkas is Joy Alukkas himself. Hence, Joy Arakkal was not associated to Joy Alukkas and hence the owner of the jewellery chain is not the one being mentioned in the above articles.
