A news article is made viral on various social media platforms with the following text :
“आज़म खान बोले कि मैं रामभक्त हूँ,अगर भूमि पूजन में नहीं बुलाया तो समाधि ले लूँगा |”
Translation: “Azam Khan said that I am a devotee, I will take samadhi if I am not invited to worship the land.”
Claim: The viral news article claims that jailed Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan said in a statement that he is a devotee of Lord Ram and he will take samadhi if he will not be invited for the Bhumi puja.
Dr. Sambit Patra who is the national spokesperson of the BJP tweeted the viral article from his official verified Twitter handle.

The photo of SP Leader Azam Khan is false, it’s said by another Azam Khan
With the help of google keyword search, our investigation led us to a YouTube channel named Headlines India on which we found a video clip of the interview.
If we watch closely between 1:40 to 1:53 minutes of the video we hear that this Azam Khan who is from Muslim Karsevak Sangh is stating that if he is not invited in the Bhumi puja of the Ram Temple then he will take Jal samadhi in the river.
Even prominent news website news18 Hindi also carried out this story. The story can be accessed here.
Thus in our investiagtion it was found that the claims made regarding this story were found not to be true and this Azam Khan is not the jailed Samajwadi Party leader. Instead, he is from Muslim Karsevak Sangh.
